PASTOR JOHNSON'S 4TH SUNDAY MESSAGE 6.23.2019

'THE BANQUET (ARE YOU INVITED?)

Pastor Johnson’s message came from Matthew 28:16-20, Luke 14:17-24, 1 Corinthians 1:18-19,21-24, Revelation 19:6-9, Romans 10:9-10, and Matthew 11:28-30.  The subject was “The Banquet! Are you Invited?” with the following subtopics:

“THE GREAT COMMISSION”

Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated. And when they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted. Jesus came up and said to them, all authority in heaven and on earth as been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you;

“HAVE YOU REJECTED THE INVITATION”

And at the dinner hour he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, Come, because everything is ready now. But they all alike began to make excuses. The first one said to him, I have purchased a piece of land and I have to go out and see it; please consider me excused. Another one said, I have purchased five yoke of oxen, and I am going to try them out; please consider me excused. And another said, I have married a wife, and for that reason I am unable to come. So their servant came back and reported this to his master. Then, the head of the house hold became angry and said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and the lanes of the city and bring in here the poor and the disabled and the blind and the lame. And the servant said, Sir, what you commanded has been done, and still there is room. Then the master told the servant, Go out into the highways and along the hedges, and compel them to come in, so that my house may be filled with guests. For I tell you, not one of those who were invited will taste my dinner. What is your excuse???

 “THE FOOLISHNESS OF MEN”

I know very well how foolish it sounds to those who are lost, when they hear that Jesus died to save them. But we who are saved recognize this message as the very power of God. For God says, I will destroy all human plans of salvation no matter how wise they seem to be, and ignore the best ideas of men, even the most brilliant of them. God has made them all look foolish and shown their wisdom to be useless nonsense. For God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never find God through human brilliance, and then he stepped in and saved all those who believed his message, which the world calls foolish and silly. It seems foolish to the Jews because they want a sign from heaven as proof that what is preached is true; and it is foolish to the Gentiles because they believe only what agrees with their philosophy and seems wise to them. So when we preach about Christ dying to save them, the Jews are offended and the Gentiles say it’s all nonsense. But God has opened the eyes of those called to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles, to see that Christ is the mighty power of God to save them; Christ himself is the center of God’s wise plan for their salvation. (Revelation 19:6-9) Then I heard something like the shout of a vast multitude, and like the boom of many pounding waves, and like the roar of mighty peals of thunder, saying, Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns. Let us rejoice and shout for joy! Let us give Him glory and honor, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has prepared herself. She has been permitted to dress in fine line, dazzling white and clean-for the fine line signifies the righteous acts of the saints. The angel said to me, Write, Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb. What is your excuse???

 “TO BELIEVE FOR SALVATION”

Because if you acknowledge and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart a person believes resulting in his justification; and with the mouth he acknowledges and confesses, resulting in and confirming his salvation. (Matthew 11:28) Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and You will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear and My burden is light. What is your excuse???

Read the scriptures and be blessed!
