PASTOR JOHNSON'S 4TH SUNDAY MESSAGE, 10.27.2019

"ALL IS VANITY WITHOUT GOD"

Pastor Johnson’s message came from Ecclesiastes 12:6-7, 13-14; 2 Peter 2:18-21; Philippians 3:12-16, 18-21; Hebrews 4:12-14, and Ecclesiastes 8:10-13. The subject was ALL IS VANITY WITHOUT GOD with the following subtopics:

“Know Who God Is”

Earnestly remember your Creator before the silver cord of like is broken, or the golden bowl is crushed, or the pitcher at the fountain is shattered and the wheel at the cistern is crushed; then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it. Vanity of vanities says the Preacher. All that is done without God’s guidance is vanity. When all has been heard, the end of the matter is: fear God and keep His commandments, for this applies to every person. For God will bring every act to judgment, every hidden and secret thing, whether it is good or evil.

“Do Not Be Detoured”

For uttering arrogant words of vanity, they beguile and lure using lustful desires, by sensuality, those who barely escape from the ones who live in error. They promise them liberty, when they themselves are the slaves of depravity for by whatever anyone is defeated and overcome, to that he is continually enslaved. For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world by knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, their last condition has become worse for them than the first. For it would have been better for them not to have personally know the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to have turned back from the holy commandment handed on to them.

“Striving to be What God Wants Us to Be”

Not that I have already obtained it this goal of being Christ like or have already been made perfect, but I actively press on so that I may take hold of that perfection for which Christ Jesus took hold of me and made me His own. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider that I  have made it my own yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press toward the goal to win the heavenly prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. All of us who are mature pursuing spiritual perfection should have this attitude. And if in any respect you have a different attitude that too God will make clear to you. Only let us stay true to what we have already attained. For there are many, of who I have often told you, and now tell you even with tears, who live as enemies of the cross of Christ rejecting and opposing His way of salvation, whose fate is destruction, whose god is their belly worldly appetite, their sensuality, their vanity, and whose glory is in their shame-who focus their mind on earthly and temporal things. But our citizenship is in heaven. And from there we eagerly await the coming of the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; who, by exerting that power which enables Him even to subject everything to Himself, will not only transform but completely refashion our earthly bodies so that they will be like His glorious resurrected body.

“God Knows You Through and Through”

For the word of God is living and active and full of power making it operative, energizing, and effective. It is sharper than any two edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit, and of both joints and marrow, exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart. And not a creature exists that is concealed from His sight, but all things are open and exposed, and revealed to the eyes of Him with whom we have to give account.

“God Will Judge All”

So then, I have seen the wicked buried, those who used to go in and out of the holy place, and they are soon forgotten in the city where they did such things. This too is futility (vanity, emptiness). Because the sentence against an evil act is not executed quickly, the hearts of the sons of men are fully set to do evil. Though a sinner does evil a hundred times and his life is prolonged, still I know that it will be well with those who fear God, who fear and worship Him openly. But it will not be well for the evil man, nor will he lengthen his days like a shadow, because he does not fear God. (All is Vanity without God!)

PLEASE READ THE SCRIPTURES AND BE BLESSED!
