PASTOR JOHNSON'S 1ST SUNDAY MESSAGE (AUGUST 3, 2014)

"TEACH THE CHILDREN"

Pastor Johnson’s sermon came from Deuteronomy 6:4-12, Matthew 22:36-39, Luke 18:16-20 and Titus 2:1-15. The topic was “Teach the Children” with the following subtopics:

 “Our Responsibility”

It is our responsibility to teach the children. We have to love the Lord with all our heart before we can diligently teach them. We should teach the children every day of our lives in the church and at home. Not only will we teach them but we should show them how to live. Teach them to love the Lord with all their heart. You have to be a true Christian first before you can teach your children. Be aware of having everything you need and forgetting about the Lord. Teach your children they can be whatever they want to be but never forget the Lord. Keep the Lord in front of you always.

“To Teach”

Jesus gave us the commandment “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind” and the second commandment “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself”. It is our responsibility as adult Christian to teach our children. They learn by observation. It is the children responsibility to learn. We were all born in sin and shaped into iniquity by our environment and surroundings. We need to show them the right way by the way we live. Teach them to love the Lord with all their heart, soul, and mind.

 “The Children”

Do not prevent the children from coming to Christ. If you don’t have the honesty, trust, and faith as a little child, you cannot get into the kingdom of Heaven. These are the commandments you cannot do: commit adultery, fornication, kill (murder), steal, bear false witness (lie) and you always must honor your Father and Mother. Respect your parents always and do exactly what they say.

“The Doctrine of Christ”

Be sober minded. You cannot teach a child when you are drunk. Have self-control over your body. Have love and patience with family and everybody. Older women should be an example to younger women. Be sober minded and teach them to love their own husbands. Be obedient and faithful to your husband. Work with him to build a happy home. Young men are encouraged to be sober minded. Do not give into the world for the sake of the children. Be of sound speech; no cursing.  Live a Christian life. When you go to work on a job, do what you are told to do. Do your job. Whatever you do put the Lord in it. Put the ungodly life and worldly lust behind you. Do what god says to enter the Kingdom. God do not lower His standards for you. God gave himself for us and freed us from our sins. God requires a zealous of good works. His words never change. If we do not change and live His way, than Hell will be our home.

Please read the scriptures and be blessed!
