PASTOR JOHNSON'S 1ST SUNDAY MESSAGE - 2.5.2017

Posted by: Shirley Smith on Mon, Feb 6, 2017

"POWER, LOVE, AND SELF-CONTROL"

Pastor Johnson’s sermon came from John 1:10-13, 3:4-7, Galatians 5:13-16, 2 Timothy 1:7-10, and 2 Timothy 2:2-7.  The topic was “Power, Love, and Self-Control” with the following subtopics:

 “Receiving Power”

Don’t let Jesus come into your world and you don’t recognize Him. It is important to become children of God. To be a child of God, you have to have the righteous of God abiding in you. You will live according to His way. No other name a man can be saved, but by the name of Jesus. You were born not of blood, not the will of flesh or man but by God. You are not here by mistake. You are here by the will of God. Man must be born again. You have to be born of water and the Holy Spirit. If you are not born again, you cannot enter into the Kingdom of God. You have to get rid of the old life of sin and put on a new life of God’s standards.

“Showing Love”

Don’t use your freedom and think you can sin because you are under His grace. You still have a standard to live by. Serve one another. If you can’t help somebody; don’t hurt them. We should love our neighbors as we love ourselves. Until we learn to stop demeaning one another, then can we start loving one another. We should have a holy spirit in our heart.  As long as you have the Spirit of Jesus Christ abiding in you, the flesh has no control over you.  Christianity is about taking the word out and being an example for Christ. Jesus Christ has abolished death and gave us immortality to light through the gospel.

  “Applying Discipline”

It is our responsibility to teach others. When you have committed yourself to Christ, others may not want to have anything to do with you. Endure your Christianity like a good soldier. No matter what the world offers you, Represent God!

Please read the scriptures and be blessed!
