NOTES FROM PASTOR JOHNSON'S 4TH SUNDAY MESSAGE (1/25/2014)

Posted by: Shirley Smith on Mon, Jan 26, 2015

"CHURCH TITHES AND OFFERINGS"

Pastor Johnson’s sermon came from Deuteronomy 8:11-19, Deuteronomy 14:22-25, Malachi 3:8-11 and 2 Corinthians 9:7-15. The topic was “Church Tithes and Poor Offering” with the following subtopics:

 “Never Forget”

Beware in not keeping God’s commandments. You have everything you want (material things) why would you need the Lord? God bless you with everything you have. Never believe you got these things on your own. God brought you out of the land of bondage (sin). We all have sinned and God brought us out. We all have lived in the desert of sin. God led us out. Know why you come to church. You come to make a change in your life style. You come to learn forgiveness and forebearness.  What you have come from the Lord. God led you to where you are. Don’t forget what God has done for you.

“To Tithe the Blessing of God”

If you fear and trust the Lord, you will do what He says. Bind your money and pay your tithes to the church where you belong. Give 10% and take the rest and enjoy.

 “To Receive a Blessing”

Will a man rod God. Yes, we will rob him in tithes and offerings when we don’t tithe. You can be cursed if you don’t do what God asks you to do and rob Him.  Bring your tithes and try the Lord. God will open the windows of heaven and pour out blessings. If nothing goes out of your hand; nothing will come in. Try God. When others see the blessings God has given you, they will ask why you are receiving such blessings. It is because you tithe. Never think you have gotten over on the Lord by not doing what He says. There are two types of people in church; those who are going to serve him and others who are not going to serve Him. (The wicked and the righteous)

For Good Works

Everyone has to make up his mind to give with a cheerful heart. If you tithe, the Lord will bless you abundantly above your tithes. God has to see your giving. Tithes are between you and God. God will bless you more and more. The church should take care of its needs and the community that are in need. We should reach out and help them. If you bless others, they will look at you as truly a child of God. It is our responsibility as a Christian to live what we are as Christians.  When you tithe, it is not for doing what church wants; but it is being obedient to God’s word. Whatever you give, give cheerfully, generously, and with love.

Please read the scriptures and be blessed!
