NOTES FROM PASTOR JOHNSON'S 1ST SUNDAY MESSAGE (12.4.16)

Posted by: Shirley Smith on Mon, Dec 5, 2016

"THE DOOR TO ETERNAL LIFE"

Pastor Johnson’s message came from Luke 20:35-38, 2 Corinthians 5:1-10, John 17:1-3; and 1 Corinthians 15:51-56.  The topic was “The Door to Eternal Life” with the following sub topics:

“Accounted Worthy”

Eternal Life is a reward given to the faithful. Those who are accounted worthy that obtain eternal life and resurrected in heaven will not marry nor are given in marriage. The real question is whether are not there is a resurrection. We will not die but will be transitioned to the other side. God is the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and God of Jacob. To say that Lord is a God of a person means that person is alive. From God’s point of view, all men are living. Ask yourself, are you accounted worthy?

“To Have a New Building”

When our tent (body) that we live in now is no longer living on this earth; we will have new bodies made for us by God. We were born with a sinful spirit. God will give us a holy spirit. The only way we get a holy spirit is to study the word of God and let it grow within us. This is the only spirit that will enter the kingdom. We must walk by faith not by sight. We should aim to please God in everything we do. We should not be afraid to die knowing that death is to be with the Lord. Stay with the Lord.

“Finding the Way to Eternal Life”

We have to know who God really is. We have to acknowledge Jesus Christ, glorify Him and follow His ways.  There are three reasons why God sent His Son: (1) Save us from our sins, (2) Be an example for us to follow, and (3) To take the fear of death from us.

“In the Twinkling of an Eye”

We all will be changed in the twinkling of an eye. This corruptible body must put on incorruptions and this mortal must put on immortality and we will last forever with new bodies. Death is swallowed up in victory. Only through Jesus Christ can we make it in. Let nothing change your mind. Be unmovable and always abounding in the work of the Lord. Give thanks to God that gives us victory through Lord Jesus Christ.

Read the scriptures and be blessed!
