NOTES FROM PASTOR JOHNSON'S 1ST SUNDAY MESSAGE 10.7.2018

Posted by: Shirley Smith on Mon, Oct 8, 2018

"THE STORMS OF LIFE ARE THE DIFFICULTIES OF CHRISTIANITY (SALVATION IS FREE BUT NOT CHEAP)

Pastor Johnson’s message came from Luke 8:22-25, Luke 14:25-30, 33-34, Matthew 27:25-35, and 2 Corinthians 11:23-29; John 3:16-19. The topic was “The Storms of Life Are the Difficulties of Christianity (Salvation is Free but not Cheap)” with the following subtopics:

“Jesus Calms the Sea”

Salvation is free but not cheap because it requires a lot from us. We must change from our old ways to a new way in God. If you give it to Jesus, it will be alright. Accept the will of God, accept the circumstances, and move on. We can’t make God do anything. Where is your Faith and Confidence? Jesus will bring you through any circumstances. You must trust Him. There is a sun on the other side of the storm.

“Discipleship Tested”

Put no one between you and the Lord. Serve the Lord no matter what. Trust God completely. Put God first in your life. The world cannot offer you anything. The world is full of confusion and destruction. God is trying to get people in His Kingdom. You cannot have one foot in church and one foot in the world. Be totally and full committed to God. You are going to either serve God or Satan. Calculate the cost for being a Christian. You have to make a change to be His disciple. God requires a change in you; you have to give up worldly things. People should be able to see the salt (Jesus) in you.

“What He Gave”

Jesus went through ridiculing and dying in our place. He did all this for us.  How deep is your Faith and Confidence in Jesus?

 “The Example”

Paul went through a lot for Jesus. What are you willing to do for Jesus? What are you willing to give up and change for Jesus? Sin separates you from God. Whoever believes and trust in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Read the scriptures and be blessed!
