NOTES FROM PASTOR JOHNSON'S 1ST SUNDAY MESSAGE (02.04.2017)

Posted by: Shirley Smith on Tue, Feb 6, 2018

"LOVE THAT GOES ALL THE WAY"

Pastor Johnson’s message came from Matthew 27:27-37, Luke 23:26-34, Matthew 26:53-54, and Colossians 1:9-14. The topic was “Love That Goes All The Way” with the following subtopics:

“Jesus Mocked and Crucified”

The love of Jesus for us kept Him on the cross; not the nails or thorns. Jesus was beat unmerciful not for His sins but for our sins. We all have to bear the cross of righteousness; so that all can see Jesus in us. If we are not living righteousness, we are a hypocrite. Being a Christian is a painful journey. It requires us to love others who don’t love us. It requires for us to go to Sunday School and Bible Class. We have to do this consistently and study the words so we can know what is required of us.

“Bearing the Cross of Jesus”

Jesus said not to weep for me but weep for yourselves and your children. Look at the community now. We are doing all sorts of sins in the world and saying it is OK. We have forsaken God and put Him out of the house, neighborhood, and schools. The tree is not there and sin is ramping everywhere. Jesus asked His Father to forgive them for they know not what they are doing.

“The Power to Go, The Love to Stay”

We all must repent from our send. Jesus stayed on the cross for us so that we may be saved. Jesus gave His best for us; but we have the audacity to continue to sin before a Holy God.

“True Understanding”

You have to walk worthy of the Lord. You have to be on display for the Lord. You have to display admirable character. When people look at you; they see a Christian. We must have moral courage. Stand on the Word of God. Have personal integrity. Please God in all things you do. We all have made mistakes. We repent and pass on to others to not make the same mistakes. We all have walked in darkness. Jesus brought us out of the darkness and into the light. He has transferred us to the kingdom of Jesus. We all have the opportunity. Don’t forget why Jesus went to the cross. It was all for the love of us.

Please read the scriptures and be blessed!
