HIGHLIGHTS FROM PASTOR JOHNSON'S 4TH SUNDAY MESSAGE (10/26/14)

"SIGNS OF CHRISTIAN MATURITY"

Pastor Johnson’s sermon came from 1 Corinthians 3:1-3, Galatians 5:16-26, and 2 Peter 3:16-18. The topic was “Signs of Christian Maturity” with the following subtopics:

 “Carnal Nature Spiritual Growth”

We have to stop playing Christians and become Christians. As spiritual beings God knows everything about us. God did not give us the meat of the words because we are not ready to accept it. Instead we were given milk. You cannot accept spiritual food because you still have that carnal (flesh) nature. Carnal nature represents envy, strife, and division. If you have a spiritual nature everything should be done with meekness, humility, and love. When you are of a carnal nature you are walking as regular men in the world.

“Trust the Spirit”

We should walk in the spirit. Sometimes we want to do what is right in the spirit; but the flesh will not let us. Through Jesus, we can overcome our flesh desires. We must stay connected to Jesus. There are many works of the flesh but the ones listed first in the Bible are adultery and fornication. These satisfy the flesh. Others are uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envying, murders, drunkenness, and revellings. Those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.  Have the fruit of the Spirit.  We should be just like Jesus Christ. These include love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, meekness, temperance, and faith.

 “By the Knowledge of Jesus”

Some things are hard to understand because it does not fit our life style and we do not want to accept this. God gives us the weapon (word) to survive against Satan so that Satan want destroy our lives. Meditate on God’s words. Be aware of this world. Study and grow in grace and knowledge.

Please read the scriptures and be blessed!
