"FACING NEW CHALLENGES"

Philippians 4:6-7

Don't worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart. And God's peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 (GNT)

In one more month, I will be at a new school. I will have to learn new names and new surroundings and face new challenges. It's an opportunity for me to start over with a new attitude to help affect positive change. A part of me is anxious because of all the newness and the unknown . For years I used to suffer frightening anxiety attacks. As I grow in my relationship with Christ, I use the promising words of Jesus in this Scripture to soothe my nerves.

As I approach this new school year, I am confessing that it will be the best year I have ever experienced in my career. I am thanking the Lord for the opportunity and for the ability to do the job with excellence. As I pray these things, I feel the peace of Jesus beginning to calm me.

Some anxiety is normal, but for some people it can be debilitating. The fact that we can confidently go to Jesus in prayer when we are feeling anxious can positively alter our outlook on life. While we are awaiting the manifestation of whatever we have prayed for, the peace of Jesus is there to help us wait patiently. That kind of peace is humanly incomprehensible. The peace of Jesus is so incredible that in times of trouble or uncertainty, we can experience sweet peace instead of making ourselves sick with anxiety. When we offer Jesus our worries and fears, he replaces them with His amazing peace. - TRACY ELDRIDGE

Faith Step:  The next time anxiety comes along to steal your peace, close your eyes, ask the Lord to fix the problem, and thank Him for His answer. Repeat, repeat, repeat, until you feel the peace of Jesus that surpasses all understanding.
