Christmas Day Message 12.25.2018

"DON'T MISS THE TRUTH"

Pastor Johnson’s message came from Hebrews 4:1-7, Matthew 1:18-23, Luke 2:8-14, Acts 4:10-12, and Philippians 2:8-11 5:42-48. The topic was “Don’t Miss the Truth” with the following subtopics:

“By Belief Only”

Although God’s promise still stands- his promise that all may enter his place of rest – we ought to tremble with fear because some of you may be on the verge of failing to get there after all. For this wonderful news-the message that God wants to save us-has been given to us just as it was to those who lived in the time of Moses. But it didn’t do them any good because they didn’t believe it. They didn’t mix it with faith. For only we who believe God can enter into his place of rest. He has said, I have sworn in my anger that those who don’t believe me will never get in, even though he has been ready and waiting for them since the world began. We know he is ready and waiting because it is written that God rested on the seventh day of creation, having finished that entire he had planned to make. Even so they didn’t get in, for God finally said; They shall never enter my rest. Yet the promise remains and some get in-but not those who had the first chance, for they disobeyed God and failed to enter. But he has set another time for coming in, and that Time is now. He announced this through King David long years after man’s first failure to enter, saying in the words already quoted, “Today when you hear him calling, do not harden your hearts against him. DO YOU BELIEVE?

“The Birth and Conception of Jesus”

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: when His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit. And Joseph her husband, being a just and righteous man and not wanting to expose her publicly to shame, planned to send her away and divorce her quietly. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, descendant of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for the Child who has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a Son, and you shall name Him Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.  All this happened in order to fulfill what the Lord had spoken through the prophet: Behold, the virgin shall be with child and give birth to a Son, and they shall call his name Immanuel – which, when translated, means, God with Us. Then Joseph awoke from his sleep and did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him, and took Mary as his wife, but he kept her a virgin until she had given birth to a Son; and he named Him Jesus. DO YOU BELIEVE?

“WHAT HE BROUGHT”

In the same region there were shepherds staying out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord flashed and shone around them, and they were terribly frightened. But the angel said to them, Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people. For this day in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you find a Baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger. Then suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly hose praising God and saying Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is well-pleased. DO YOU BELIEVE?

“EVERY KNEE AND EVERY TONGUE”

For this reason also, God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess and openly acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. DO YOU BELIEVE?

Please read the scriptures and be blessed!
