"THE MATURING CHRISTIAN"

Pastor Johnson’s sermon came from Isaiah 35:8-10, Romans 4:4-8, and Philippians 3:8-21.  The topic was “The Maturing Christian” with the following subtopics:

 “The Road of Faith”

Holiness consists of living with Holy Ghost inside of you. This is living the way God wants you to live. God has dictated that if you do it His way and not your way; you will find favor in Him. You will find eternal life. Once you get on the highway of Jesus, He will keep you straight. You may fall off but He will pick you up. The redeemer will have joy and gladness. Sadness and sorrow will flee away. Jesus brings you this joy. We cannot change yesterday. But when we trust in the Lord, whatever He brings us to; He will also bring us through it.

 

“Leads to Heaven”

Everybody wants to go the heaven. You cannot do enough good works to get into the Kingdom of Heaven.  You have to believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Once you believe in Jesus; you are going to do good and right things. This is not to score points with God. It is because you know in your heart this is the right thing to do. Blessed is the human who repent. God will save you.

 

 “Through Jesus Christ”

Material things mean nothing because we cannot take them with us when we leave this earth. The most important thing should be our soul and salvation. Do not go by your own righteousness; but the righteousness of God. Go to the Bible to find God’s righteousness. Everything you need to know is in the Bible.  It is sometimes uncomfortable to do the right thing; but you will find it is the best thing if we want to have eternal life. A Maturing Christian does not look behind but look toward Jesus Christ. Keep searching the Word of God. Do not follow the wrong person in church. Follow Jesus. If you want to go with Jesus, get on that Holy Highway and leave everything behind.
