NOTES FOR PASTOR JOHNSON'S 1ST SUNDAY MESSAGE 7.1.2018

Posted by: Shirley Smith on Mon, Jul 2, 2018

"AM I MY BROTHER'S KEEPER"

Pastor Johnson’s message came from Genesis 4:9-12, Matthew 25:31-46, James 2:5-19, Matthew 5:42-48, and 2 John 1:5-6. The topic was “Am I My Brother’s Keeper” with the following subtopics:

“How’s Your Brother”

We are killing our brothers every day. Cain killed Abel. How is your brother doing spiritually? You can kill a person with words. You need to watch out for your brother. It is a sin to not to be your brother’s keeper as Jesus Christ has watched over you.

“Do Right By Your Brother”

Ask yourself are you a tare. The Messiah will separate the people. You have to know if you are a sheep or a goat. Will you be on the right or left? Be sure you are a sheep (the righteous one). The righteous did not remember during good things (giving stranger water, clothing the naked, visit the sick, and the prisons) because it was their nature and in their character to do good. Those on the left are the evil ones. They are the ones who refuse to help their brothers. Do you

“Helping Your Brother”

If you are really one of the righteous, you shall love your neighbor as yourself. If you show partiality, prejudice and favoritism, you are committing sin. Give your best first. It all belongs to God. Judgment will be merciless to one who has shown no mercy, but who has mercy will triumphs victoriously over judgment. Genuine fait produces good works. Recognize where you are. God looks at the heart. Make sure there is no partiality, prejudice, or favoritism in your heart.

“Unconditional Love”

Give to those who ask. Give willingly. It is not your concern what they are going to do with it. Pray for those that persecute you. What good is it to love only those who love you? You are not showing change or made no sacrifices. Christians should love everybody. They are peculiar people. We are to be perfect like our Father in heaven. Open the door and let God in to help you clean out the dirt so we can strive for perfection.

“Obeying God”

Christians should love one another. Obey God. Search your heat and ask yourself do you really love God. If we love God, we will do whatever he asks us to do. Love each other. We must abide by His rule to enter into the Kingdom.

Please read the scriptures and be blessed!
