"ITCHING EARS"
Pastor Johnson’s message came from 2 Timothy 4:1-5, 1 Peter 3:10-19, 2 Peter 2:12, 17-22, Hebrews 6:1-6, and 2 Timothy 3:16-17. The topic was “Itching Ears” with the following subtopics:
“Preach the Word”
We are all messengers to take the word out. Don’t let any man tell you how to act. Don’t give out false information or advice according to how the world is doing but only what God says. Encourage those who are growing toward spiritual maturity. Some do not want to hear the truth because it makes them examine themselves. Don’t think God will accept the unacceptable (sins).
“Teaching Truth”
Trust in the Lord. Lean not to your own understanding. You must keep your tongue free from evil. You must turn away from wickedness and do what is right. God looks favorably upon the righteous. When there is opposition, step aside, standstill, and wait on God. Give God first place in your life. Everybody has the opportunity to come to God.
“The Peril of Falling Away”
Once we repent, we should not have to repent anymore. Don’t keep using repent as an excuse and run a game on God. When you say you are a child of God, we should know Who God Is. If you ever truly believed in Jesus Christ, you will not backslide. Don’t disgrace Goad as a Christian by being a hypocrite and doing what God’s words say.
“God’s Word”
We must learn to live in conformity to God’s will both publicly and privately. If not, you will hold God in public disgrace as a Christian.
