NOTES FROM PASTOR JOHNSON'S 4TH SUNDAY MESSAGE (OCT 25, 2015)

Posted by: Shirley Smith on Mon, Oct 26, 2015

"OVERCOMING THE FLESH BY THE SPIRIT"

Pastor Johnson’s sermon came from Galatians 2:16-21, Romans 7:9-14, and Romans 8:1-11.  The topic was “Overcoming the Flesh by the Spirit” with the following subtopics:

 “Works Cannot Justify”

You cannot do good work enough to make it into the Kingdom. You are not justified by works but by faith of Jesus Christ. Christ came to save us from our sins. He is not a minister of sin. Once you learn what God want you to do; you will do better and live according to what is written. If you go against the word of God, you become a transgressor. If Christ lives in you, the flesh no longer controls you. You must have Christ living in you. The body is a covering of the spirit that lives within you. Once you are dead the covering comes off and a new covering is given to you that live forever. The Son of God died for us to live. The law cannot make you do right, but it will punish you. The only thing that can make you stop doing wrong things is Christ living in you. This is the Holy Spirit which teaches you how to live and will guide you to do the right things.

“Sin in Me”

Everyone has sin in them. The law let us know what sin is. The law is good and holy for those who want to make a change in their life. Once you understand what you should do and identify your sins and still go back to those sins; you become a transgressor. The law is spiritual but the flesh is under sin.

“Only the Holy Spirit Can Change Me”

Those who walk after the spirit are not condemned. Jesus came to earth and experiences everything we had to experience. Jesus let us know we have the ability to overcome sins. Jesus set an example for us. Don’t give into the flesh. Give into the Spirit. Giving into the flesh is design to kill you. To be spirit mind is peace and life. Sometimes we are going through things because we are an enemy against God’s spirit; but we are into the flesh. You have to be mature in Christ and let the Holy Spirit dwell in you. You will have life if you have Jesus within you.

Please read the scriptures and be blessed!
