PASTOR JOHNSON'S 1ST SUNDAY MESSAGE (10/5/14)

Posted by: Shirley Smith on Mon, Oct 6, 2014

"You are Not Alone"

astor Johnson’s sermon came from Job 1:13-22, Psalm 4:1-8, Romans 8:31-39 and James 5:7-11. The topic was “You are Not Alone” with the following subtopics:

 “When Trouble Comes”

Some of us are facing the same tribulations as Job is going through. You are not alone. God is always right there with you. The first thing you should do when going through is fall on your knees and pray to the Lord and thank Him for being with you.  Job was able to thank God in spite of everything that happened because of spiritual maturity. He understood everything belonged to God. God gives and God takes it away.

“Trust in the Lord”

Lord I know I have done wrong. Hear my prayers and hear me when I call.  You should do whatever God righteousness asks you to do. God was beside us when we were distressed. Acknowledge his presence in our life. How long will you think your way is right and not consider God’s way? God will hear the godly. The godly are the ones who are trying and striving to do the right thing. Sin not and look inside your heart. To yourself be true. Offer sacrifices of righteousness and put your trust in the Lord. When we go through things, we draw closer to God. Do not pull away. Be like Job and worship God.

 “As the Elect of God”

If God is for us, who can be against us. The battle is already won. God gives what you need and not what you asked selfishly.  We were chosen to be God’s representative before we were born. We should take pride in this. We have a responsibility and accountability to our brothers and sisters. We should be a shining light to others. We are not here in church by mistake. We are the elect. Nothing should separate us from the love of God. You may not have everything, but you have joy.

“With Patience, Joy, and Peace”

Be patient and the Lord will bring you through. Wait on the Lord. You cannot rush God. He will be right on time. The Lord is coming back…that time is drawing nearer. Endure until the end. If we hold unto the Lord, He will bring us through.

Please read the scriptures and be blessed!
