"THAT SAME SPIRIT"
Pastor Johnson’s sermon came from Genesis 2:7, Isaiah 26:8-10, Romans 7:14-25 and Romans 8:9-18. The topic was “That Same Spirit” with the following subtopics:
“By the Essence of God”
The only way we were able to function is by God breathing the breath of life into us. We became a living soul. Man always had freewill to make decisions. But man rebelled against God.
“My Soul Will Seek”
We should want to know the ways of God; not our ways. The desire of our soul is to God. The desire of our spirit is different from the desire of your soul. Your spirit has to seek and find the Lord. Believe and put your hope in the Lord. We have to learn righteousness because unrighteousness comes natural. God say let favor be shown to you. He wants to give you every opportunity. Sometimes no matter how much favor God shows, we will not do right.
“Spiritual Righteousness”
God recognize we have a carnal nature. The things we know are wrong; we will do them anyway even though we know what is right. We say we are born again Christians; but sin does not go anywhere. The only thing we can do is try to bring sin under control. Do things according to God’s righteousness. The flesh will kill you. Look inside yourself. Every part of your members can sin. You cannot have one foot in the church and one foot in the world. Only Jesus Christ can deliver you. He stands at the door. You have to let Him in. The law of God teaches us what is wrong. The law of Flesh is sin. Man was connected to God in the beginning. Man disconnected himself from God.
“You Can Find Eternal Life”
As Christians, we should have the spirit of Jesus within us. If Christ is in you, you will not sin intentionally. You know the body will do wrong; but the spirit of God within you will choose to do what is right. If the Spirit of God dwells in you, who raised Christ from the dead, will give life to your mortal body. This is your hope. It is important to have the Spirit of God dwelling in you. It can only be activated through Jesus Christ. You have to be a Christian and live the Christian life to enter the Kingdom. Look in the mirror and ask yourself where you are on your Christian journey. God has organized an inheritance with us where we can be redeemed and inherit eternal life. If you want to be healed and go to heaven, get rid of the sin. Sin and faith does not go together.
