PASTOR 1ST SUNDAY MESSAGE (6/1/2014)

"THE SPIRIT MUST LEAD"

Pastor Johnson’s sermon came from Matthew 5:1-12, Matthew 25:31-46, and Luke 4:18-19. The topic was “The Spirit Must Lead” with the following subtopics:

 “A New Spirit”

Blessed are the poor in Spirit. They are the ones that feel they do not have the things they should. Especially, they are not spirit connected to God. Blessed are those that mourn for their sins for they should be comforted.  Blessed are the meek who does not keep a grudge. They are forgiving and forbearing.  You have to be thirsty and hunger for the words of God for righteousness. You have to study God’s words to be satisfied and fulfilled. We must learn to be mercy to others like God had mercy on us and sent His Son. We all need to examine our heart and look at the evil in your heart.  Be a peacemaker. Have humility and joy in your heart. Bless are those who are persecuted for righteousness. Don’t worry about the truth being saying about you.

“To Bless Others”

Know which side you are going to be on. The sheep is on the right and the goats on the left. Check your heart and make sure you are supposed to be with the sheep. Did you give strangers (those who do not know Jesus) spirit food that can be used? Did you encourage them? Did you give them a word from God? Did they see Jesus in you? Did you visit those who were low in Spirit? On the left hand, to the goat, none of these things were done. Those who did not do these things will be cast in an everlasting fire.

“Show the Spirit Within”

We all, each one of us, have accountability and responsibility as stated in Luke 4:18-19.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.”

Let the spirit live within us and let the spirit lead us!

Please read the scriptures and be blessed!
