PASTOR'S 1ST SUNDAY MESSAGE (MAY 4, 2014)

Posted by: Shirley Smith on Mon, May 5, 2014

"Be A Shining Light"

Pastor Johnson’s sermon came from Proverbs 4:14-18, Isaiah 60:1-3, and Matthew 5:13-20. The topic was “Be a Shining Light” with the following subtopics:

 “Walk in Righteousness”

Get away from around others that are not living the right way. Do not be involved with sinners. Some are not going to sleep until they can mess your life up. That is their desires. Your best friend is Jesus. Your accountability and responsibility is when people see you, they should see Jesus abide in you. If they don’t see this, you are a liar and hypocrite.

“As A Shining Light”

Your Christian responsibility when you get up every day is the let your light shine. You have been washed, justified, and sanctified.  It is time for you to get up and show your Christianity. The glory of God should be seen upon you. No matter how much sin is going around you, others should see a light shining in you. You are not like others in the world; but your light should shine. They should see Jesus Christ in you. Your Christianity draws people to be light. When you are not what you supposed to be; you cause others to stumble. You have accountability and responsibility to be a light for Jesus.

“For All to See”

We (Christians) are the salt to the earth. You are a peculiar person because you are walking in righteousness. God will not overlook your unrighteousness. You cannot fool God. If you have lost your salt (righteousness and savour), you are not good for nothing. You are not the light of the world. You can cause someone to fall because of how you act. We as Christians have responsibility and accountability to be light of the world. If your light is shining, you cannot hide. The word of God is what made you clean by studying and hearing the word. This will prevent you from losing your savour. You have to understand and live the word of God. Your actions glorify God. God’s word will be here forever when this earth pass and His word will not change.

Walk in righteousness as a shining light for all to see!

Please read the scriptures and be blessed!
